Statement on Today's Supreme Court Decision

Statement

I am thrilled that the Supreme Court has rejected appeals on same-sex marriage bans in Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin, paving the way for marriage equality in 30 states and the District of Columbia. We have come a long way since Massachusetts led the nation in marriage equality in 2004, but we have much more work to do.

For the first time, Americans in a majority of US states are able to marry the people they love. But millions of Americans still face unconstitutional barriers to their pursuit of happiness. We cannot rest until all Americans enjoy equal rights under the law. This is the civil rights fight of our generation, and we will prevail.
